Who we are

Founded in 1982 by Carole Roussopoulos, Delphine Seyrig and Ioana Wieder,
the Simone de Beauvoir Audiovisual Centre
is an archive of audiovisual documents on the rights, struggles, art and creativity of women.

The Simone de Beauvoir Audiovisual Centre
also films and keeps a record of events related
to women and feminism. This audiovisual heritage
is part of the objective shared with the women’s
movement to record and remember the role
women play in the world and their achievements.

The Centre is supported by the savings bank Caisse d’Epargne (Ile-de-France region),
the Ministry for Social Cohesion and Parity,
the Paris City Hall’s Institute for Equality between Women and Men,
the Paris City Hall’s Cinema Mission
and the National Centre for Cinema (Centre National du Cinema).

The Centre also works with the French National Library (Bibliothèque nationale de France),
the Paris-based film laboratory Vectracom, as well as the associations Lire c’est vivre and TILT.
